Maider López was born in 1975 in San Sebastian, Spain where she lives and works. She was graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Bilbao (1998) and received an MFA from Chelsea College of Art and Design, London (1999). Lopez enjoys creating interventions in spaces, situations and architecture. Her works often involve the active participation of the viewer and can take the unprepared by surprise as an aspect of a familiar space mischievously highlighted or altered.
Based in London David Gates runs a studio/workshop designing and making furniture, working speculatively for public showing and to commission on domestic, public and commercial pieces.

Watching a film, sinking back into an oversize cushion, feeling the gentle undulations of the sea below while shrouded in the warmth of Thailand … could a cinema experience get much better than this?
This floating cinema is based on the techniques used by Thai fishermen to construct floating lobster farms. The raft is built out of recycled materials as a series of individual modules to allow for flexibility for its future use.
Archipelago Cinema is a collaboration between Ole Scheeren and the Film on the Rocks Yao Noi Foundation which is presided by Nat Sarasas, Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Chomwan Weeraworawit and Tilda Swinton.
It is part of a festival in Thailand which took place from 9th- 12th March 2012.
