The Andes House

Geometrical artisan products beautifully crafted in Raulí wood as seen at Tent. Designed by Cristián Domínguez + Raúl Domínguez of The Andes House.
Through the investigation of different materials that are utilized in traditional artisan design, including copper, wool, clay, and wood, TheAndesHouse® chose a basic material that can be found in 80% of the homes in Chile, wicker, to create the line of products under the brand madeinMIMBRE ©.
Their objects are the novel result of TheAndesHouse®’s constant search for original beauty, for recovering the original vocation of the materials chosen, and then effectively mixing them with the excellence of contemporary design, and the traditions of the best artisans of the country.
Designer’s Statement : This line of utilitarian products; fountains, plates and mugs have been designed and developed from a technique of the Mapuche people. The piece is worked like an sculpture by Mapuche artisans, and made functional through an industrial workplace. From a piece of wood, the artisan works out through the cut, and inside the room is emptied through an industrial lathe. The Andes House develops a line of container objects two ways of boosting production.
